Accutane: Benefits are petite in comparison to the unsafe side effects

Almost every drug out there is imperfect and comes with a hidden side. This side includes the side effects and complications, which it can cause among masses on administration. Accutane too is one such medication that was introduced to treat nodular acne, a rare and rather complicated form of acne. FDA in 1982 approved this drug to be sold as a prescription medicine for people of all age group. Like every drug this one too had few precautions and complications associated, which needed careful consideration.

Accutane was ranked as a banned drug in 2009 after the real truth regarding its effect came to notice. This was after many people experienced side effects that were severe and could not be just overlooked. The very first case was by Andrew McCarrell from Alabama who reported a serious kind of inflammatory bowel disease in an age of just 20 years. What came out as the result for this was the plaintiff being awarded $25 million compensation from the makers.
